Good AFTERNOON!
I hope you had a fabulous weekend. I haven't really done anything but that's because I've been feeling a little bit tired. But I m feeling so much better

So.
University.
Ive been through first year. So I feel like I'm qualified to give some advice. This doesn't apply to first years only. But all years

1) Books

Oh my days books are hella expensive. And of course your professors are pushing you to buy all of them. And the try to convince you that not having one is the end of the world. I mean yes, the best thing to do is to buy the books but theirs other ways to get the book. First thing i usually do is check  the university library for it. If its not there then the next best thing to do is to borrow a book similar to it. Actually, that's what I found myself doing even when I bought the books and I didn't understand that passage

2)Resources

Resources at uni aren't 'free', you paid £9000 for the whole deal. So use it. Go for all the pop in sessions for maths, go to the seminar about writing and essay, if you need help with a certain topic your lecture, email your lecture about it. Another thing I wanna mention is if you think you have a learning or mental health disability, there must be some sort of  advice centre where you can get diagnosed because the sooner you get help, the easier it gets

3) Revision

You don't have to just use books, I actually hate using the books because once i start reading only about 25% of the information sticks in my brain so I find you tube videos and making pod casts and flashcards.

4)Budget

MAKE A BUDGET MAKE A BUDGET MAKE A BUDGET MAKE A BUDGET AND STICK TO IT.
I cannot emphasise this enough. Money is something very, very precious at uni. Don't throw it all away. It took me 6 months to actually make and stick to a budget and its a very essential skill to master. I suggest googleing how to make a budget and Ill try and make a post on how to make one as well.

5)Health.

This went out of the window when i first stared going to uni. I was set free from my mums restrictions. I just ate whatever i craved and i gained a freshman 15 and I'm still to this day tryna shake it off. To be fair, eating super healthy is way more expensive than buying three packs of custard creams. The trick is to- um? I still haven figures=d it out. Feel free to comment below any ideas that you've got.

Any way, I hop you have a fabulous week
Love Rose

CHEAP AF// Payday Haul

Sunday, 19 March 2017

Before I had a phone or access to wifi my only source of entertainment was reading.I got to observe and alternate reality that would later keep playing in my head months after I had finished reading it. These are the books that had a huge impact on me an how I view my life. So here they are!!

  • My Sister Jodie ~ by Jacqline Wilson

This was the first tragic book I had ever read.It was also the first book that I ever cried at. Honestly the emotions are still strong from this. Bear in mind this was aimed at 12 year old girls so I wasn't suspecting such and impact.

  • The Purple Hibiscus ~ Chichimanda Ngochi Adiche

This was my first African book and I loved it! I felt like I could really connect with the main character and she was one who I could connect to on a personal level and I rarely do that.

  • The Colour Purple~ Alice Hooper

I got this as a birthday present because I saw the author in a documentary some time ago so I thought I might read it. And well,It was an eye opener. It was harsh, sharp and very, realistic. When the characters cry, you cry with them because now suddenly, they are you and you are them

  • Me Before You ~ Jojo Moyes

I kinda heard that lots of people saw the movie and cried when the watched this movie and I wasn't ready to put my self through it. But I was getting bored with what I was reading so I decided to venture to the romance section. And I expected it to be a typical twilight~esque sort of book.
It wasn't, it was

  • A Thousand Splendid Suns ~ Khaled Hosseini

Ok. I  got the audio book for this so it was a bit strange having someone else read a book for me, but that meant that I didn't have to struggle with the pronunciations. I had heard about the Kite Runner from all my friends so when I saw it in the library and took it home.Ant the title sounded like a pretty cheery book and I didn't read the blurb because spoilers .But Holy Chickens this left me in an emotional mess when I finished it. It taught me to appreciate my life and the struggle women past present and future have had to go through, are going through and will probably go through.
This is a MUST READ.(Or listen to)

Whats your favourite book?

Book it// The 5 books that changed my life and will change yours too

Thursday, 16 March 2017

So, I’ve spent six months at Uni and I’d like to say that I’ve pretty much mastered the art of surviving the uni kitchen. Not going to lie, my mums cooking will always be the best in the word and mine will never compare. But there will come a time where you’ll realise that living off pizza and ramen noodles is not the way to go.
So here are five food cupboards under £5 to help you through Uni
  • Spicy Seasoning.

This is a life saver. When I first started my culinary adventure. I realised how dull my food was because the only “Seasoning” I had brought with me was Salt and trust me, It wasn’t fun to eat, So when I got home, I raided my spice cupboard and brought this seasoning back to uni and I’ve never looked back.
  • Coconut oil.

Ok. Coconut oil is basically the elixir of life. It can be used for cooking and for skin care and for hair care

  • Coffee- You need to stay awake for those Monday morning lectures

  • Green tea
I dunno, I always feel like I’m being healthy when I drink green tea. Apparently it's great for flushing out toxins?? I need to fact check this.
  • Cheese sauce Granules
Saving the best for last. This is probably the best thing ever invented next to pizza, sliced bread, and toothbrushes. Honestly. I am in love. Buying cheese is expensive. Buy too much and you end up wasting, buy too little and you would have to buy increasingly each week. In comes Cheese sauce granules. This is great for mac and cheese and other cheesy sauce foods

What is a must have in your food cupboard?

5 Things Thursday// Uni Food Cupboard

Monday, 23 January 2017

Well, It is a new year and a same me.

And I’m glad because that give me a lot to work for this year. Oh.
Wait.
 Hi.
 I’m Rose.
Ok nope, that is a lie. I’m not actually Rose. But I feel like we all need a bit of privacy when putting stuff up on the internet so for this blog I am Rose. I’m 18 years old. No really. Look at this mug.

I’m not lying.
I’ve also just started my first year at uni. You’re probably thinking ‘Rose shouldn’t you be revising or partying?’ And my answer is yes. That’s exactly what I should be doing but when you get to know me, you’ll know why.
The thing is, this year is the year I change and stop being more me and start being more who I want to be. You know what I mean? Of course, you do! It’s called a new year’s resolution.

So here is a list of seven things that I’m going to change about me. (Number two will shock you) Ok, I’m kidding I just thought I’d try a little bit of scroll bait.

1)The way I write

I’ve had lots of blogs before and they started off as a way to vent and sometimes that’s a good thing because well, it’s great to vent. But then I couldn’t look at the blog without feeling a little bit sad for myself. And then I’d spend the next few hours wallowing in self-pity and that’s not fun at all

2)The content, it’s all about me.

In my last blog, It was just all about me. And again, I treated it as a diary yet, in fact, I wanted it to be let’s say more of a scrapbook.
3) Be less anonymous
A great start of course because I just told you my name is Rose yet it’s not, in fact, Rose but I wanted to be less anonymous. But I will try and open up more.Lets start with an awkward picture of thy self.

4)Make new blogger friends
I did make blogger friends and then lost them when I stopped blogging and this time, It’s not happening (Comment down below, be my friend(Ok that sound really creepy but I meant it in the less creepy way of course!))

My challenge this year is to blog for at least once a month for a year. It’s gonna be tough but I’m a survivor I’m gonna make it, I will survive keep on surviving
Did I just end on a Destinies Child song?

Yes, I did.
